Turf Management XI SeminarIn support of the Asosiasi Superintendent Padang Golf Indonesia, the Asian Golf Industry Federation is proud to present the Turf Management XI: Seminar at Indonesia from 2nd till 4th August at the Emeralda Golf Club.

The 3-day programme is part of the AGIF Sustainable Turfgrass Education Programme organised to meet the diverse needs of the Asian golf superintendents to maximize golf course maintenance. Participants can expect to learn in a fun loving environment the effective techniques, products and equipment used in golf course maintenance operations.

The programme will see the coming together of representatives of golf industry companies, many of whom have been golf course superintendents in Asia themselves. Speakers due to speak at the programme include Dr Micah Woods and Matee Suntisawasdi.

The Asian Golf Industry Federation

It is an acknowledged fact that no one really has a handle on the size of the Asian Golf Industry, its true size in terms of real and potential business and the challenges faced by the industry.

An educated guess will place the total golf course population in Asia (including Japan) at around 6,000 clubs. A fix on the number of new courses in various stages of development is anybody's guess. And the number of golfers - this is a moving target which ranges from anything between 17 million to 22 million (including Japan again).

You get the picture - it is pretty much a guessing game and the time has come for all stake-holders in golf to come together to help develop an industry that is properly tracked and guided going forward. It is a multi-billion dollar industry and given the region's economic growth potential, the future augurs well for all stakeholders.

In response to this, a number of major stakeholders in the industry have banded together to form the ASIAN GOLF INDUSTRY FEDERATION.

Organisations from the following trade groups may qualify for membership (subject to satisfying the membership terms and conditions provided for in the AGIF's Constitution):
  • Golf Equipment Manufacturers
  • Golf Course Suppliers
  • Golf Management Services
  • Golf Course Architects
  • Golf Real Estate and Development Companies
  • Golf Organisations like the Asian Pacific Golf Confederation
  • Professional Golf Tours (Asian Tour, ASEAN Tour, Japan Tour, Korea Tour, etc)
  • National Golf Associations
  • Others (any business associated or affiliated with the Golf Industry)
