For Immediate Release: AGIF congratulates Montgomerie Links for winning the USD$10,000 grant to promote participation in the game of golf across all socioeconomic strata in the Central Coast region of Vietnam. An initiative led by Committee Chairman Mark Adams and endorsed by the Vietnam Golf Association, golf courses and driving ranges in Vietnam were invited to submit their bids earlier in the year for AGIF's consideration.

Singapore (September 30): For the second time in less than a week, Acushnet Company, which is comprised of the Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra brands, has played an integral role in shutting down an online seller of counterfeit Titleist products. 

Gareth Lee, of Portsmouth, England, was sentenced by the Portsmouth Crown Court to 2 ½ years in prison for his role in the sale of counterfeit products.  Lee also was ordered to pay £105,000 within six months.

Singapore (September 24): A worldwide network of fraudsters conned thousands of people into buying fake golf clubs on eBay, a London court has heard. 

Ebay was hit by a massive worldwide fraud in counterfeit golf clubs. 

In allegedly the largest fraud uncovered by the online auction site, the counterfeit clubs, as well as clothing and other golf accessories, were sold "on a scale, it is believed, has never been seen before," prosecutors told Snaresbrook Crown Court.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (September 22): Troon Golf chairman Dana Garmany announced plans to step down as CEO effective Dec. 31. 

He will be replaced by Hud Hinton, who has been the company’s president and chief operating officer since 1999. 

Garmany, who founded Troon Golf in 1990, will remain chairman of the course-management company, which operates nearly 200 courses in 31 states and 26 countries.

Singapore (August 27): The 2009 Asia Pacific Golf Summit scored big again today when it added the Chief Executive Officer of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) to its list of illustrious speakers.

The new star billing is Mark J. Woodward, the GCSAA's seventh chief executive. He joined the association’s staff April 8, 2008 after serving as golf operations manager for the city of San Diego.
